Deputy Undersheriff Kevin Heavey

Deputy Undersheriff Kevin Heavey began his distinguished law enforcement career over two decades ago in the New York City Police Department (NYPD), patrolling the streets of East New York and Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

In 2009, Deputy Undersheriff Heavey attained the rank of Sergeant and served in the Bronx Criminal Court Section. There, in addition to supervising incarcerated individuals and staff, Deputy Undersheriff Heavey ensured courtroom and facility security and proper handling of documents related to the arrest and arraignment process.

Later, Deputy Undersheriff Heavey served in the Internal Affairs Bureau, where he worked to build and maintain a continuum of trust between the public and the officers who serve them. In this role, he addressed and resolved unethical behavior, upholding the integrity of the department.

In 2014, Deputy Undersheriff Heavey was assigned to the NYPD’s Ceremonial Unit. After serving as personnel, training, integrity control and executive officer, his dedication and outstanding service was recognized with a promotion to Sergeant Special Assignment. He later served as the unit’s Interim Commanding Officer. Deputy Undersheriff Heavey’s experience lends him a proficiency in special event support, safety, and management, interagency collaboration, and personnel management.

Deputy Undersheriff Heavey received his Bachelor’s Degree from Queens College and has received specialized training in dignitary protection, criminal investigations, internal investigations, crisis intervention, as well as leadership and strategy development. Deputy Undersheriff Heavey resides in Suffolk County with his wife and 3 daughters.
