Enforcement Bureau

The Civil Command is the enforcement arm of the courts in Suffolk County. Its authority lies in the Nov York State Constitution, the Civil Practice Law and Rules and the Real Property Law of the State of New York. The civil actions processed by this section include: property executions for enforcement against real and personal property, income executions, warrants to remove, service of process, warrants of arrest, orders of seizure, orders of attachment, service of D.W.I. forfeiture summonses for the County Attorney, enforcement of Health Commissioner orders, and all other actions issued out of any court in the county. In addition, Deputy Sheriffs assigned to this command along with the Enforcement Section enforce the State of New York Penal Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law, Alcoholic Beverage Control Law etc.

The Enforcement Bureau provides functions for Pine Barrens Enforcement, Handicap Parking Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, parades, funeral processions, as well as Legislature Meetings security, the Shed the Meds program and requests to supplement enforcement by neighboring police agencies. The Special Operations Unit is embedded in the Enforcement Bureau and is responsible for the patrol function at Gabreski Airport and the Riverhead County Center building.
